Raid Night

ATTENTION Gryphon's Roost!

Welcome to Raid Night - our FCs main END-GAME event! Bellow you will find some basic information as well as sign-up requirements and composition information. Let the Night Raids beg... I mean Raid Nights begin!

Raid Night!!!!

Awesh runs this event, so it's his baby, his rules, aaaand all complaints and indeed praises go to him. Ok Awesh let's do this!

Alright Roosters… listen up you beautiful disasters!

It’s almost Raid Night! in Final Fantasy XIV, and before we go in and get absolutely folded by bosses, we gotta talk about some stuff.

High-end raiding in Final Fantasy XIV isn’t just “hit boss, hope for best.” It’s more like: “Everyone press the right buttons at the right time or we explode.”

So let's get started! Below you will find the information you need!

Requirements

Ok here we go -- due to this being an End-game event and the fact that logistically speaking it would be quite hard to accommodate different LvLed group compositions (it would limit our Raid pick drastically), we have come to a decision regarding the requirements of joining the event. All players must therefore:

Have their chosen job at LvL 100
The players must have completed the Dawntrail MSQ and unlocked the required quest for the chosen Raid
(you will have time for they will be announced ahead of time)
Player must reach the minimum Item LvL requirement, which is currently: 710.

We do not need you to have previous Raid experience or be a master at it - we will learn together!

Group composition and class choice

The Holy Raid Setup (a.k.a. The Not-Dying Squad)

We need:
2 Tanks – Big armor. Big vibes. Get punched in the face professionally.
2 Healers – Glue the tanks back together.
2 Melee DPS – Stand close, risk everything.
1 Ranged DPS – Cowards… but useful.
1 Caster DPS – Someone has to bring the magic eh?

Every job brings cool stuff:

Party buffs (make everyone hit harder) // Damage reduction (so we don’t instantly evaporate) // Different damage
types // Limit Breaks (big anime moment button) //

If we stack random stuff or keep swapping roles every week, the raid turns into:
“Why did we wipe?”
“I don’t know.”
“Probably everything.”

Balanced team = smoother clears = less screaming.

How does this affect you?

Progression raiding is not “try a new class every Tuesday”. It is mastering the workings of a specific class, learning how to adapt, which skills to use when, your rotation and boss mechanics. Therefore we kindly ask you to LOCK IN a chosen class and stick to that for Raid Night - there will be switching options naturally but it will have to be in-line with group compositions.

If you LOCK IN your main job, you will:

Be better at your rotation.
Know when to press your defensive buttons.
Know when the tank swap happens.
Know when to scream.
Do more damage.
Cause Less chaos.

If you DON’T lock in, you:

Might have random cooldowns on your skills.
Might not line up your buffs with the group.
Might make the group relearn the same mechanic 27 times.
Might make everyone cry.

Raiding is a team sport.
Stability = victory.
Chaos = respawn screen.
So now we go over to the basic requirements and it is not hard I promise!

About Job choice

We know everyone has their favorite class. (Red Mage, wooo, let's gooo! - Griff)

But sometimes:
5 people want to be Samurai.
0 people want to heal.
That becomes a problem.

Not everyone will get their first pick.
This is normal.
This is fine.
We will survive.

So with that in mind, we would like to ask for information, regarding your class choice. It is how we will build groups and have the option to properly plan out Raid Night. If your personal choice will not be compatible with the current group composition, you will still have your reserves as options or another forming group will find the space for you. We will make it work!

How to join

To join, simply post a short message on our Raid-night Discord Channel regarding your class choice - it will be treated as you joining the event, and we will fit you into our Group compositions.

Format the message as follows:

MAIN JOB (only 1 job - this will be your "LOCK IN" role)
(for example: MAIN JOB - TANK, Warrior)
EXTRA (1 - 3 additional jobs that you are proficient with, as your reserves)
(for example: EXTRA: RDM, SMN, GNB)
Raid Experience (just some basic info so we know what to expect – savage, extreme, casual, first time, etc.)
(for example: Raid experience - Did Crystal Tower but nothing else)

This way you'll be locked in and ready to get placed, wooo!

Please post the above in the RAID NIGHT channel.

When does Raid Night take place?

We will announce each Raid Night event days, weeks, even months before it happens so do not worry about "missing" out! Generally expect them to occur on the weekends - most likely Saturday or even Friday - depending on other events and free time, etc. Raid niiiight!

The Group Compositions (starting with Group A) will be uploaded to the Website as soon as they form. Additionally when a Raid Night is announced, we will upload some general tips and guides for the chosen Raid.

The Ultimate Calling

Down the line there will be one Ultimate Gamer Squad™ marching bravely into Savage and Ultimate content like absolute degenerates. This elite unit will be hand-crafted based on vibes, chaos tolerance, the ability to not stand in orange and of course interest!

The skill celling here will be high, so keep that in mind. These Raid Nights will be held separate from the main event - unless we all get so good that we can just run them willy-nilly - who knows!

Pray to Hydaelyn.
Fear Zodiark.
Respect the callouts.
Do not greed the mechanic.

May your parses be high and your floor tanking minimal.

And so…
A long, long time ago…
Eight brave (slightly confused) adventurers gathered.

Some pressed the right buttons.
Some stood in the wrong place.
But together… they bonked the boss anyway.

The End. (Or at least until the next Raid Nights...)

Awesh wrote a good portion of the text on this page. So! If you find anything stupid on it... that's on him, ha! - Your best leader ever, Griff
